Free Yoga..but don’t knock over the statue
Looking for something unusual to do on a Thursday night? Head over to the Blanton Museum
where admission is free every Thursday and where on third Thursday they have an array of programs including yoga, book clubs, in-house artists discussions and much more. Although the third Thursday of the month is a while off, if you go in tomorrow you will be able to experience The Birth of Cool
, an exhibit centered around mid-century modernism in Los Angeles. As an added bonus tomorrow, April 2, professors from UT’s School of Architecture will be delivering the Expert Perspective
about the exhibit.

On these nights the museum extends its hours for the public. I know what you are thinking….yoga in an art museum? Well, I have tried it and it is actually very relaxing at the Blanton—-think of yourself as apart of the artwork. That is unless you fall! So give it a try, what do you have to lose? It is FREE! One tip though: If you bring your yoga mat, carry it vertically or one of the museum workers will kindly but sternly remind you. It would be a shame to knock over an ancient Greek statue when you came for a night of relaxation.
