A Week of [Cheap] Relaxation!

The days are long, classes are tough and with no breaks left until the last day of school, it’s getting harder and harder to find time to just relax.  And even harder to take a moment for yourself and, get ready for it, get a massage or facial or pedicure!  It doesn’t help that these luxuries are usually marked with a pretty steep price tag!

And, while I don’t have a solution to helping you better manage your time, I do have a quick fix to the overly expensive prices of most spa treatements!

Starting next Monday, April 13, and lasting until next Sunday, April 19, Jane Iredal makeup is bringing Spa Week to Austin!  For just $50 (compared to the normal $100-$200) you can enjoy hour long luxuries such as a Deep Tissue Massage, a Skin Brightening Facial, an Aromatherapy Salt Glow (oo la la!), a Blue Bonnet and Wildflower Massage or a Choco-Foot-Love Pedicure!

Founder Cheryl Reid started Spa Week in 2004 with only 25 participating spas in the New York area and has since expanded to nearly 20 states across the US!  Her reason for starting the week was quite clear:

“The concept was simple; full service treatments, normally costing from $100 to $200 dollars, for just $50 dollars. No longer would spa be relegated to the wealthy; it was my mission to make it an affordable part of a healthy lifestyle routine.”

So, take an hour out of your busy day for a little “you” time!  It will be well worth your time…and money!

Here’s a map to show you all the participating spa’s around Austin!

  1. Ya know, this month’s issue of Esquire actually mentioned the act of getting a facial and talked about how it’s actually not an unmanly thing to do. Since I take most of my cues from the magazine (even though the jerks decided not to hire me for an internship), I might check it out one of these days. Give me a little more detail regarding what to expect though. Will my face be ripped apart and then gently sewn back together?

  2. In response to Robert–of course not! You will come out glowing. Take some advice from me (who would totally hire you), facials are the best. And one for $50 isn’t bad. I really love Jane Iredale make up so I am going to have to check this out.

  3. I’m so excited that Austin is running this special! I always read on blogs that these are going on in places like LA and New York, so I’m glad that we get to get in on the action, too.

  4. Haha Robert. Yes, Jill was right, you WILL come out glowing! And feel better than before! I am so proud of you to even consider a facial! And to Olivia, I know isn’t it great! I went last year in Austin and it was fantastic! I definitely recommend it!

  5. It’s my birthday this week and this sounds like the perfect way to treat myself. This is a great concept – everyone wants a little indulgence every now and then but without the hefty pricetag that usually comes with it. By making it an occasion, like ‘spa week’, people feel more inclined and less guilty about joining in. Can’t wait!
