Workout..for free!

We all know working out doesn’t come cheap these days.  That is, unless you want to head over to Gregory Gym (except many of us graduate in May therefore no more Gregory) or hit the trails outside somewhere.  Otherwise, you have to be a member of a gym or studio and usually pay a fairly high fee each month.  Not anymore… !

For the remainder of April Lululemon Athletica is hosting “Weird Wednesdays at Whole Foods” at 6th and Lamar!  Come join others starting at 6:30 p.m. on the top of Whole Foods for an hour of free fitness classes!  Seeing as we are in the middle of April, there are only three classes left (April 15, 22 and 29) but they each offer a different workout!

April 15: Hip Hop Yoga

April 22: CrossFit

April 29: Acrobatic Yoga (whoa!)

But, the free fun doesn’t stop there!  Every Saturday morning from 8:30-9:30 Lululemon offers free in-store yoga classe taught by instructors from Love Yoga Coop!  What a deal!  They also have a free running group you can join that meets at the store, located at 1016 W. 6th St., every Sunday at 9 a.m.!

Lululemon manager John Desselle told me that they even have a chalkboard in store to keep track of all the free fitness classes in the community!

And to think we’ve been paying those ridiculous fees to get a good workout in…!

  1. awesome posts. Austin is such a fit city and this is probably why! There are so many great places to work out for free.. including running/kayaking outside at Town lake or even at peace park. I live off Lamar and 24th so I always walk my friends dog over in peace park.

    They also have Eeyore’s birthday is celebrated there every year and this year he is 46..go celebrate in peace park on April 25th

  2. I wonder how crowded these workouts get? They would be especially great if not too many people knew about them. Whole Foods has great food too. You can follow your workout up with a healthy (but watch out… it can be pricey) diner!

  5. Great post Kristin..It’s always good to hear about ‘group’ workout possibilities – I am way more motivated to exercise if it is planned, scheduled, and I will be breaking a date if my laziness cuts in!
