Luminous: UT Fashion At Its Finest

Luminous: University of Texas Fashion ShowWhen I think of fashion I usually next think of money.  These two items often go hand-in-hand.  However, this Friday you will have a great opportunity to have your fill of fashion for absolutely free.  The University of Texas Textiles and Apparel program will be hosting their annual end of year fashion show on April 24th at the Frank Erwin Center.

The show, titled “Luminous,” will feature the work of over 20 senior designers who have been working all semester.  They have spent lots of time preparing for the show, each designing four separate pieces.  The items will include daywear, casual wear, evening gowns and bridal gowns.

It is a community-wide event that everyone can enjoy.  Last year there were over 5,000 attendees to the show.   It’s a great way to spend your Friday evening.  There will be lots to see at this exciting show.

The School of Human Ecology puts on the fashion show each year to showcase the work of graduating seniors.  The event begins at 6:40 pm with an exposition of all of the student’s clothing.  The main event, the fashion show, will begin at 8:00 pm.  The 2009 show will feature professional models and makeup artists to accompany the designs.

Come out to help support these young designers as they begin their career in the fashion industry.  Their styles will be judged by professional designers, fashion journalists, and others in the business.

Last year the introductory powerpoint slideshow took way too long.
No one really cared about the “rich” history of the textiles department and the audience spent at least half an hour fidgeting in their seats.
The actual fashion show was good, though.

  2. I managed to catch the end of the fashion show on Friday night, and I was amazed at the bridal and evening wear – they were all beautiful. I was very impressed!

  3. I’m glad you enjoyed it, Samantha! I hear that the dresses keep getting better and better every year.
